Today I want to share something magical—my Flying Paper Fairies SVG and Studio cutting files. These little fairies flutter right off the mat and into your heart. They’re light, bright, and full of movement. I loved designing every detail, especially their delicate wings and layered dresses.
This project brings together everything I enjoy in papercraft—elegant silhouettes, soft color play, and just enough dimension to make it feel alive. I imagined each fairy dancing in mid-air, like a storybook scene paused in time.
All the parts are clearly arranged, and you’ll only need a few colors of paper to start. I used yellow, pink, and teal for mine—but you can absolutely go wild with glitter paper, pastels, even metallic cardstock. Whatever makes your heart sing.
When I started sketching the idea, I wanted fairies that looked graceful but playful. The kind that could sit on the edge of a plant pot or hover over a little gift box. Their skirts are built with layered petals, so they look like they’re caught in a soft breeze. That’s my favorite part. The movement. You can almost feel it.
You don’t need any special skills for this one. Just your cutting machine, a bit of glue, and maybe a cuppa while you work. It’s the kind of project that comes together slowly, like a quiet afternoon with soft music in the background.
If you’re crafting with kids, these are also a fun project to do together. Let them pick the colors. Add some sparkly gems to the wings. Maybe write tiny names for each fairy. I think crafts become even more special when you make little stories around them.
This file comes with three different fairy silhouettes. You can mix and match as you like. The assembly is simple—start with the base, then layer the dress petals and wings on top.
I like using double-sided tape or foam dots to give them extra lift. Just a bit of spacing between layers makes the petals curl and cast soft shadows. For the wings, you can cut two sets—one in solid color and one in vellum—for a dreamy, see-through look. Try it, it’s lovely.
This kind of DIY is perfect for little moments of joy. You don’t need a reason. Just a quiet space, your machine, and a few sheets of paper. The results are always worth it. When I finished my first fairy, I actually left her on my desk for days. She just made me smile.

You can use it with the Silhouette Cameo or Portrait, Cricut and ither electronic cutting machines that handle SVG files. I always test everything to make sure the cuts are clean and easy to weed, so you can relax and enjoy the process.
