DIY Stencils with Silhouette CAMEO

As I promised today I will share some information, pictures and video about stencils I make with my Silhouette 🙂 This way I like the best. I use the plastic file folders with transparent cover. They appeared to be the most usable material among all others I have tried. Firstly, you can find them everywhere. Secondly, they are cheap. Thirdly, they are thin and soft. I use both the top and bottom covers.

I’ve made 4 small stencils from one cover. And they do great for adding accents on your projects. As you can see even the smallest details were cut out accurately. These shapes I bought on Silhouette site.

The top transparent cover is thinner then the bottom color one. I chose the settings for it as below and a double cut. But the double cut was unnecessary for this cover. It would have worked perfectly without it. The bottom cover is thicker and my Silhouette didn’t cut it properly with these settings. I think I should have increased the knife setting to 5.

I have Crafter’s Companion – Stick & Spray Repositionable Adhesive which I’ve bought a long ago for my cutting mats which had become less sticky. And now I also use it to make my stencils sticky. Be sure to buy repositionable spray or it won’t come off of you surface. It has extremely sharp smell so never use it in your room. I used my unglassed balcony to spray it around.

I made an album for my stencils. Inside it I put thick transparent cover sheets on which I adhere my stencils. The adhesive holds them very well so you do not need to spray it every time you take one of the stencils.

I hope you will find this useful! Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Have wonderful weekend!
